Terms of Service
By using Chambered you agree to these terms. Please read them — they include an important disclaimer about legal advice, a limitation of liability, and a dispute-resolution clause.
1. What Chambered is
Chambered is a free educational tool that provides (a) firearm platform information and part compatibility guidance, (b) summaries of state and federal firearm laws with citations to primary sources, and (c) a live feed of pending firearm-related legislation via the LegiScan API. Chambered does not sell, transfer, transport, or otherwise handle firearms or ammunition.
2. Not legal advice
Nothing on Chambered constitutes legal advice. Firearm law is jurisdiction-specific, changes frequently, and is highly fact-dependent. You are solely responsible for verifying the current text of any statute cited here against the official state code, and for consulting a licensed attorney in your jurisdiction before acting on anything you read. If any information on Chambered conflicts with the official statute, the statute controls.
3. Age and legal capacity
You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) to create an account. You must also be legally eligible to purchase, possess, and use firearms and ammunition under U.S. federal law and the law of your state and locality. Chambered does not verify your age or eligibility — you represent that you meet them.
4. Acceptable use
- You will not use Chambered to plan, promote, or advocate for any unlawful act, including any firearm-related crime, threat, or violation of state or federal firearm law.
- You will not scrape, mirror, or bulk-download the site or the API in a way that materially burdens our infrastructure.
- You will not attempt to reverse-engineer authentication, escalate privileges, or access another user’s account.
- You will not misrepresent Chambered content as your own for commercial purposes without attribution.
5. Outbound retailer links
Chambered links to third-party retailers and manufacturers. Chambered has no control over the operation, inventory, pricing, or policies of those third parties, and we do not endorse any specific product. Compliance with federal, state, and local law — including background checks, transfer requirements, waiting periods, and permits — is between you and the retailer/FFL. See the affiliate disclosure for details on our commercial relationships.
6. Intellectual property
Original Chambered content — including compliance summaries, education lessons, and comparison tables — is © Chambered. Statutes, bill text, and public-domain government content are not our property; we surface them under fair use or the source’s license (LegiScan data is used under CC BY 4.0). Wikimedia Commons and Unsplash images are used under their respective licenses with credit displayed on each image.
You may link to any Chambered page and quote up to 200 words of our original content in an article or post with attribution and a link back to the source page. For larger use, contact us.
7. No warranty
Chambered is provided “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE” without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or accuracy of any specific compliance summary or product compatibility recommendation.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Chambered and its contributors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the site — including loss of profits, data, or business — even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Our aggregate liability for any direct damages will not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars ($100).
9. Governing law and venue
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of Chambered will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to that jurisdiction and venue.
10. DMCA / copyright complaints
If you believe content on Chambered infringes your copyright, send a notice compliant with 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3) to the address on our contact page. Include: identification of the copyrighted work, the URL of the allegedly infringing content, your contact information, a statement of good-faith belief, and a statement under penalty of perjury.
11. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account for violation of these Terms. You may delete your account at any time via the contact page.
12. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced on the homepage for at least 30 days. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
